About 18 months ago I had been in contact with Esther. Very kindly through Julia her Assistant, Dame Esther made it clear to me, that having spent seventeen years fighting my conviction, that if ‘That’s Life’ was still aired, that my case would certainly feature on the show.
On 6th October 1989 the programme editor, wrote to my Father inviting him to attend an interview at the office of That’s Life at Lime Grove, in London. Esther and Shaun the editor were impressed with my Fathers application as a potential programme presenter.
I was saddened to hear, that after all these years, as a significant broadcaster and staunch activist for peoples rights, that Esther had finally passed away. She has now joined Desmond Wilcox her late husband, who was a fantastic programme maker. As a child in the seventies, I really enjoyed his tv series, ‘Your Life in Their Hands.’ All about hospital operations, great series.
